“Purchasing the Perfect Computer: – Is the FIRST Time”

So you’ve finally decided it’s time for a change. No matter what advice you follow that old workhorse of a desktop computer you have has outlived its usefulness with slow loading applications and a continuous rise in operation noise. Searching for that Perfect Computer can be about as much fun as purchasing a new car and about as frustrating also when sorting through the various brands while trying to decide which “bells and whistles” best fit your needs. Besides all that trying to return something that is so large can be both inconvenient and very difficult to do. So making the right decision the FIRST time is the wise path of choice. For starters you’ll need to decide what you want to do with your computer. Are you into the video game scene or are you someone who likes to just surf the internet and occasionally do some book keeping with simple word processing software? If you’re into video games you’re going to want a machine that can handle the high level of graphics and superior sound quality. On the other hand if you’re not into all that high adrenalin stuff you can probably get by with a less expensive system. Although, if you want to stay on the safe side I would recommend going with something more “high-end” so you don’t have to spend another large chunk of change to upgrade the system you just bought. There are two basic routes you can take when purchasing a new computer. 1) Purchase a “Brand Name” Computer 2) Purchase a “Clone” Computer A “BRAND-NAME” computer is one that is manufactured by a company that is recognizable by name. Some Advantages/Disadvantages of “Brand-Name” computers include: Advantages- Customer Support- If you are experiencing problems with your computer you will have the option to contact a representative of the company that you purchased the PC from to get help in solving your problem. Customer support is probably the best reason to buy a brand-name computer. Warranty- Having a warranty is always nice since it acts as a type of security blanket for you. In case a part on your computer should fail you should be able to get the item fixed at no charge just as long as the warranty has not expired. Read and understand a company’s warranty policy BEFORE you purchase a computer from them. This way you’ll have a good understanding of the procedures to follow in case a problem should arise. Pre-installed Software- Many companies will include software packages that are all set up and ready to go for you on your computer. Although, a disadvantage of buying a brand-name computer with software pre-installed is that you usually end up with more than fits your needs and usually just results with the wasting of space on your storage device. Additional Support- Most brand-name computer companies are also able to provide you with web sites that may provide you with current software updates, user manuals, or basic troubleshooting help. Disadvantages- The use of Proprietary parts- the term Proprietary refers to products that are unique to an individual company and that company only. So if a part was to malfunction on your computer after warranty and you needed to replace it you could not just go to your local computer store and purchase any old part even if it was intended for the same function as the item that failed. You would be forced to buy the exact same item that came out of the computer or else the computer would more than likely cease to function correctly. Having to buy proprietary parts usually involves the need to place an order which means you’ll have to wait for the part to arrive or you’ll have to send your computer into the company or an authorized dealer of that company for repairs. People with a home based business would probably not be too happy with that situation at all. Integrated/On-board parts- In the computer world when you hear the word integrated or on-board it means that a particular part such as the modem or sound port where you plug in your speakers, is built-in or part of the computer main board (Also known as the Motherboard). This means that if any of these items should fail, you can’t just remove them from the computer and replace them with a new part. They are usually soldered directly to the main board and are stuck there. Although, some computers do provide a way to disable a malfunctioning device which will allow you to install your own store bought device to take the place of the broken part. From a computer technicians point of view this is not always easy to do. It just depends on what brand of computer you currently have. Meaning some are easier to work on than others. A “CLONE” computer is a clone or a copy of its brand-name counterpart with the exception that instead of company specific or proprietary parts, the items used to make a clone computer are from several different companies instead of only one. Let’s say that if you were to go to a local company that builds “clone” computers, and you tell them what you need, chances are they don’t use parts that are specific to only that type of computer like the brand-name computer companies do. This is a good thing because it means that they will probably use components that are interchangeable with many different brands and are easy to come by if needed. Some Advantages/Disadvantages of “Clone” computers include: Advantages- Cost- compared to brand-name computers the clone will generally be easier on your pocket book when purchasing one with similar features as its brand-name counterpart. This is most likely due to the money that is saved by not offering the high-end customer service. Although, that may not be the only reason for the lower prices. Easily Accessible Replacement Parts- Since the clone computer was built with parts that are not any one company specific, you can buy parts for the clone computer that can be used even if the brand is different from the one that was in the computer when you originally bought it. Note: Before you buy any parts, it is necessary to make sure that the replacement parts are compatible with your particular computer system requirements. Either consults the manual that should have came with your computer or get help from a knowledgeable friend or repairperson. Disadvantages- Warranties- Unless you purchase a service plan you will typically not have as an attractive warranty as you would with a brand-name computer company. Whatever you do just make sure you understand how long the warranty is for and as to what kind of repairs the warranty covers before you make the purchase. Customer Support- With brand-name computer companies you are usually provided with a 24-hour toll free number that you can call if you have questions or concerns with your computer. Clone computers are more than likely not going to have a 24-hour help service, but rather you will be forced to only be able to call during regular business hours. Also, it is more than likely that there will not be any one website that you can go to in order to find out information concerning troubleshooting questions you may have. For service it may be necessary to take the computer back to the store that you bought it at or you may have to do some research on the individual parts that went into the computer and visit the manufacturer’s website for troubleshooting tips. Finally, if all else fails you can certainly take what you have learned from this article and being that you know what you need now, but don’t know where to go and get that “Perfect Computer”, the best resource at your disposal are the very men and woman that work at your local electronics shop. It is their duty to help you get hold of that “Perfect Computer” that best fits your needs. All you need to do is tell them what you plan on using that computer for and they should be more than happy to help you from there.

Cheap Desktop Computer – How to buy Desktop Computer Packages

Do you want a computer that you can play solitaire on or play other games? Maybe you just want to be able to send and receive emails. You can typically get away with purchasing a cheap desktop computer. Don’t expect to be able to do much more with your computer though. Sometimes you will even find that if you purchase a really cheap desktop computer, connecting to the Internet may even be difficult. It will really depend on what kind of modem and the level of the connectivity that the computer has. If you don’t even care about connecting to the Internet (once you do though you will never be able to live comfortably without it) you can find many cheap desktop computers. They will have either no modem or very low level modems. Low level modems means it will take forever for you to connect to the Internet. But if this is not important to you, that’s okay. Do you absolutely need to have a brand new computer? If that is not a requirement for you, you will be able to save a lot of money by going to local computer stores and asking for a refurbished computer. Refurbished computers are usually great. You may want to get a referral to the computer store that you buy a refurbished desktop from. You may also ask for warranties, etc. . . And find out if they will make repairs at a reasonable rate if needed. Computers have become a commodity type item in recent years. There are so many of them around and they change so often. Many people get a new computer every year or every time something new comes out. This is an advantage to someone looking for a cheap desktop computer, or any other type of computer for that matter. Those one year old models still work well; they just may not be the fastest and most up-to-date. You can find Desktop Computer Packages online as well. If you don’t have a computer currently, you may be able to stay late at work and use a work computer to search online for cheap computers. If not, go to your local library. They usually have computers that can be used by the public. Search for your computer there. Online stores may offer cheap prices, but be aware that shipping costs may be expensive. Check out the prices and shipping costs together to see if you can find a good deal.

These home security kits have also cameras which works both as a surveillance and as motion detectors! Once movement is detected in a room where the camera is placed, the camera will start to record. You can have the camera send you email or cell phone alerts and you can view the footage of the camera from anywhere in the world over the internet, provided that your system is connected to the Internet as well. The software that comes with it is usually very simple to use and you can also download third-party software that you can find on the Internet which will probably be able to communicate with your home security camera kit as well.

Where To Buy Computer Software With A Great Software Discount

Have you ever made use of such wonderful software as Adobe Photoshop, SWISH, or any other piece of use software? Chances are that you have. Ever since the invention of the computer, the realm of software has come a long way indeed. From simple programs that allowed you to type words in and nothing more, to the sophisticated image and video editing software of today, there are few fields in which technology has progressed so rapidly. Perhaps you got to try such software out on your friend?s computer or perhaps you obtained a free limited trial. Finding that you liked the software, you went looking to buy computer software for yourself. If this happened to you, then you were most likely shocked at the prices at which you would have to buy computer software such as Photoshop. Those prices are nothing short of ridiculous to the average consumer. Adobe Photoshop, for example, would cost you US$700 to purchase! Such prices truly are mind-boggling, especially when you consider that you are paying for ethereal lines of code on a computer. This is the reality you have to face, however, if you wish to buy computer software. There is an alternative to paying the full price when you buy computer software, however. That is to search out sites that offer a software discount on their products, so that you do not have to pay the full price. Of course, it can be rather difficult to find a software discount, particularly if you go looking to buy computer software in physical stores. How many times have you seen any software discount being offered at your local computer store? Chances are those occasions were few and far between. Traditionally, computer software has not been the type of product that business owners offer discounts on, so in order to find the right software discount, you will need to search non-traditional sources. The best place for that is the internet. There are a great many websites on the internet where you can buy computer software, and these sites usually offer a wider variety than any physical store. This is because of the nature of computer software. In physical stores, software has to be placed on a CD or DVD before it can be sold. On the internet, however, many companies have turned to offering paid downloads of popular software, guaranteeing customers the ability to download the software as and when they feel like it once they have paid for it. At some of the larger sites, you will also find software being offered with a software discount. This will help you deal with the incredibly high price of most computer software. If you are looking to buy computer software with a software discount, then this is definitely the best alternative for you.

It is not easy to Buy computer software with a Software discount , but at Netkillersoft you will find any and all types of computer software that you could possibly want offered at prices below retail!

Slow Computer? Fixing the Boot and Why You Should not Use Msconfig to Edit the Startup Files

The quickest way to see what loads at startup, is to run the MSConfig utility. MSConfig is a troubleshooting utility that lets you edit . INI files, services and startup files. While not documented in Windows help, it is explained in the online Windows XP Resource Kit. You must have Administrator’s rights to use the MSConfig utility. To run MSConfig, click on Start/Run and type in MSConfig and enter. Clicking on the Startup tab will show you all the programs loading at start-up. However, don’t utilize msconfig to disable startup applications. Though it functions as a basic startup manager, msconfig shouldn’t be used to alter your PC’s auto-start programs, because by doing that: – you change the registry where there are services that are necessary for hardware and booting. Once you uncheck a service in msconfig, you disable it entirely. – while disabled with msconfig, programs may not be uninstalled properly and orphaned entries often will be left behind. – switching back to normal startup mode, the orphan entries can result in boot up errors. – msconfig does not list all applications loaded in all possible startup locations, some entry points are hidden and unknown to the user. – msconfig does not allow the complete removal of disabled entries from its list. It is far better to use a startup manager. You can download quite a few managers and use for free. You can try out Mike Lin’s Startup Control Panel, Autoruns and Starter by CodeStuff. In any of these programs, If you untick an entry it will no longer run at startup. This will allow you to experiment and see how your system performs with any of them disabled. But, first things first. Before you attempt any changes to the startup configuration it is wise to create a restore point which you can fall back on if an unforeseen problem arises. Click on Start – Help and Support. Click on the System Restore menu. Select Create a restore point and click Next Enter a name for the restore point and click on Create The restore point has been created. Click Close. Now you are sure that you have a point you can fall back to if you run into any problems altering your startup. From a clean start, you can add back files, such as antivirus and firewalls that run at boot time. A major problem with editing the startup is knowing which files you need or not. Usually you can get an idea of what a file is by looking at the ‘command’ or ‘location’ column. The command is the actual executable file, including any options or switches, used to start a file. For example, the startup item ‘eventsrc’ has a command that shows us that it is in the Real folder, so we know it’s associated with the RealMedia player. The location shows where the command is executed from, usually from a registry key, or the Windows Startup folder. If you don’t know what the file is or does, the Sysinfo. org startup list is a database of known files that you may encounter. When you find a file in the startup list you don’t know, for example, “eventsvc”, look it up in the database. But the database has many entries and the easiest way I found to identify these programs was to google them. Now when you’re all done and you have disabled the uneccessary programs running at startup, your system should be booting faster and trouble free. Now that you have partially fixed the slow boot, you can carry on with the process of fixing your slow computer. To really speed up your slow computer you need to: – Remove unused applications. – Clean your browser’s history, temp data and your Favorite or Bookmark list. – Optimize the Windows Registry – Scan for and remove threats like viruses, malware etc. – Take some more measures to make the boot process faster. – Keep those startup apps you’ve disabled from reloading into the startup. – Free your PC’s memory whenever possible. – Schedule your cleanup programs to run automatically. – Place all your data files together in one easy to use location. – Defrag and organize your disks so that your most used files are in the fast lane. – Optimize, tune and tweak your PC for optimal speed and stability. I have researched and tested several products over a period of several months and in order for me to get our slow PC’s performance up to speed again, I made use of not less than 17 different products, each of which is designed to do a certain task on the computer. Eventually we ended up using 11 of these apps (all freeware) on a regular basis which keeps our PC’s performing clean and error free. In forthcoming articles I’ll explain to you in detail, how to clear out forgotten programs, unused, unnecessary and junk files and how to clean and streamline the Windows registry.

Make Beats On Your Computer

If you want to make beats on your computer, but don?t know where to start, this is the right article for you. The good news is that since there are good computer programs on the market, you don?t a professional studio to make beats. The “bad” news is that you still have to learn how to do it. So let?s start with the basics: As you may know a beat consists of drums, bass, samples and instruments (synthesized or real). As the drums are the most important part, I will concentrate on this part. You can isolate a drum from a break beat. Choose a sample and take the kick, snare and hi-hat. Keep in mind: the best to take are those that are most isolated as there is only little background noise. Load the drum samples in a music sequencer like Sonic Producer. Inside, replace the default drum kit with your own drums. Now you need a pattern for your song (for example consisting of three drum patterns like intro, main and bridge). Next, choose the tempo: something between 90 and 100 is common for hip hop tracks. For the intro, try to keep it simple (for example use only kick and snare). Choose your main drum pattern and the bridge drum pattern. Now the basic layout is finished. Final tip: layer your beat! For more information on how to make beats on your computer, take a look at this article: Make Your Own Beats

Starting Computer Repair Business Mistakes!

Starting computer repair business mistakes are not unlike any other business start up mistakes. Under capitalization, not planning for cash flow and operating costs, unrealistic sales and revenue projections, and no marketing plan, are all common mistakes. Lets take a look at these mistakes as they apply to the computer repair business in particular. Computer repair businesses fall under the services category, even though many might sell some equipment both for replacement parts and new models. Since start up and operating costs are the first areas most new owners try to address, that’s a good area to discuss first. It’s easy to overlook some of these start up costs until you actually start working in your business. That’s the number one mistake. Start up costs can be very reasonable for a non-retail computer repair business. If you plan on going retail, you will need a pretty good chunk of money for the initial lease, build out, and signage. But we’ll save that scenario for a different article. Since the owner/operator will be going to the client (instead of the client coming to a retail location), a reliable vehicle is a must. And with gas and vehicle prices being what they are, transportation costs should include fuel and maintenance in addition to the purchase or ongoing payment cost. A good transportable tool kit, maybe some common repair parts, and other basic accessories are also necessary. You might even consider a smock of some type to protect clothing (I can’t tell you how many shirts I’ve lost to toner, dirt from shop areas, and other unknown threats). Administrative costs should include items like cell phone, invoices, business cards, insurance (both health, auto, and liability), accounting advice and software, any local licenses, and reference materials (manuals, etc. ). We’ll break out any advertising or marketing costs due to the fact that they will be ongoing and not just start up requirements. Depending on the market area, and what methods are planned, advertising and marketing costs can be considerable. The next biggest mistake falls under both the sales and revenue projections and operating expense and cash flow. These two areas go hand in hand due to the relationship. You cannot bill 100% of your time, end of story. If you bill 60% of hours, you are doing well above the national average of owner/operator type businesses. There are several reasons, but the biggest is that you get to change roles many times during working hours. So figure on 35-40% billable hours. You can obviously work 60 hours (and I often do) so that 35-40% can represent more hours. Along with the number of hours, due to the nature of the business, you really don’t know how many service call requests will come in during any period. After doing this for 30 years, I still don’t know. Of course the more long-term clients you acquire, the more ongoing activity you will have. Cash flow can always be an issue. The more ongoing clients you get, the more you will carry receivables. Short quick service calls (under $200) should be invoiced and collected on the spot. Larger and ongoing projects should be billed upon collection and if you offer terms, make sure you can live with them. It’s very easy to get to a point where you get to spend office time chasing receivables. It’s not fun, and takes away from billable hours. You can also get burned from time to time. I offer terms, but only after a client has paid for the first time and established that the amount of work and billable hours will be worth the headaches. And the third, and probably the most important to keep your business providing revenue, is a realistic marketing plan. You will need new clients every week, and should implement methods that are ongoing. The accordion effect is difficult to avoid in any small business. That’s where you get too busy doing service calls and let your marketing efforts slip. When you get over the busy period, you sit there since you quit marketing and there’s a time lag to get new business. So no matter how busy you get, save some time for your ongoing marketing. One way I’ve figured out to help overcome this situation is to have some flyers printed up that I send out everyday. When I go to a new service call, I jot down 10-15 businesses name and addresses near the new client. When I get home or before I leave for work the next day I grab the flyers and put the past days addresses and drop them in the mail. And if you want to get a little more cost effective, you can wait a day or two until you have enough ready that you can use the lower bulk mail rate. Either way, you can’t go wrong if you adhere to this system. Starting any small business is a challenge. The Computer Repair Business is no different. But it is one of the few service type businesses that you can start with a very small investment. The key to success is not making the common mistakes above. Pay attention to details, be aware of the pitfalls, and try to compensate for the known problems. Having your own Computer Repair Business can be quite profitable if you can overcome these common mistakes.
